As a state licensed health care consultant, Brian has become a sought after benefit consultant and speaker for many businesses and professional organizations and recognized as the top/most relevant educator.

Over the past 20 years, Brian has built a successful, full-service employee benefits firm, one of the few dually licensed agencies and third party administrators in Michigan. With the help of over 100 employees, 44North (formerly CIC Benefit Consulting Group) has formally been recognized as a leading state agency for Blue Cross Blue Shield, in addition to partnering with many other major carriers offered in Michigan.

44North manages the benefit needs of over 400 groups throughout the state, including over 100 public sector groups (schools, counties, etc.). Understanding the FMLA - Employer Requirements
This presentation is designed for smaller / midsize employers and the administration requirements for Family Medical Leave Act. Small /midsize employers have a less frequency of “potentially qualify” and qualifying FMLA events and often don’t have the expertise or staff to fully understand or meet the administration requirements under Federal FMLA Law. This presentation will provide valuable information on FMLA requirements and best practices to put in place. Including, but not limited to, most common FMLA mistakes made by employers and the risk associated with mistakes.

ERISA & DOL Audits... Changing Times but Not Compliance
Presentation will provide participants with information on The Employee Retirement Income Security (ERISA) Employer Compliance Requirements – what is required and what to expect if the employer encounters a DOL/ERISA Compliance Audit. Mr. Aitchison will cover common audit reasons, issues if the employer is not prepared and review an actual DOL document request.

James M. Reid, IV is a shareholder and member of the Corporate/Employment and Franchise and Distribution Practice Groups at Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller, P.C.. Mr. Reid works mainly with employers on a spectrum of employment issues including counseling and advising human resource professionals and business owners.
